|
|
I would like to plug in 2 DV cameras via firewire ports into a flash application that would display the 2 videos. It's regarding human walking analysis, where it is very helpful to see a front and side view of your patient, with the motion occuring simultaneously - hence the need for 2 live feeds! We primarily use Mac's, but could be persuaded to go PC if as mac driver could not be split??
Thank you for any advice you may have! |

hello
If your 2 cams are exactly of the same kind, they use the same driver.
Then, everyone, including Windows, will see only one.
Go for two different cams.
But, then, you will bang into and USB bandwidth problem; most probably, your PC's USB capacity will not be strong enough to support the video flow from 2 cams.

the aim of splitcam is to SPLIT a stream, not to handle two at one time! (thatswhy the name is SPLIT-cam, not simultanious-cam or something like this).
equipement for handeling two sources or more at one time you nead video grabber cards (there, you can use all kind of cams you like - but, you need video-cameras; not computer-cameras). if you are fine wit non-digital-video source, you can try osprey 100 (made by viewcast). there, if you want to have more than one source at one time, you need as many crads as inputs, but you can run all them parallel (as much available pci-slots you have, and of coure, system resources; but for two or three a 2,3 MHz CPU plus 1 GB RAM I tryed and this is fine). if you need other inputs than just a plain cinch-plug, you may try there more upmarget products (but, be aware to pay more than 1000 USD each card! - the OSP 100 you may get from 100 USD on).
if you need more infos, just ask! |
